Recently got an egg cooker. Something I thought I would never use but it’s amazing! Saves so much time, eggs are cooked perfectly and hardly any cleaning up afterwards. Don’t know how I’ve lived without one for so long x

While there are quite a few things that I think I couldn’t live without: slow cooker, chest freezer, fridge, bread maker, blender, microwave etc I think if I could only have one thing, it would be the washing machine. Hand washing every item for a family of three teenagers and two adults would be too awful to contemplate! I’m sure anyone who has ever been without their washing machine, even for a short time, would agree.

Just to be different, I will say it is our AirFryer. That thing is incredible useful when you want dinner but can’t be bothered to make it. Just add the stuff you want, turn it on and wait until it is finished. You don’t have to check on it, or turn things over half way through cooking. It’s great.

I use my kettle so frequently that I really noticed when it broke recently just how much I rely on it, not just for tea, but to cook with as well. Water for tea just does not taste the same heated on a hob!

I love our elderly hand held Dyson DC34 vacuum – it is light enough for me use despite my arthritis and has oodles of suck.

Possibly controversial but I couldn’t manage without my electric can opener. I know many cans now come with ring-pulls but there are loads that still don’t. I just can’t use a manual opener! I can’t tell you how often it used to end in a bloody mess and me being stabbed!
