I am a keen walker. In April this year I decided I would take up walking as a means of improving my health. I thought walking would be ideal as it fits in with my every day life. Walking has really improved my health both mental and physical. Walking is one of the best things you can do to achieve the weight you want, maintain your weight, go from aches and pains to feeling great, helping with stress or anxiety, keep you toned, keep your brain active and many many more wonderful things. For me, walking beats any form of exercise I have tried – especially the gym and working out in front of the TV!
Did I also mention that walking is free and you don’t need a lot of equipment to do it? Have I also mentioned that walking doesn’t just help you lose weight but it can keep you sane too! Walking has been proven to help people with depression, stress and anxiety. I love my work but there are so days that can be stressful and very frustrating. Walking allows me to have time to myself to get rid of the stress of the day.
I have been preparing for ensuring that I can walk during the winter too as I don’t want to lose the benefits of walking just because of a little rain or snow! That’s why I was delighted to be asked to come up with my wish list from Simply Hike. They asked me to consider what products from their North Face Collection I would choose. Below are the items on my wish list this Christmas!
The North Face Womens Mezzaluna Full Zip Hoodie is a soft and lightweight fleece jacket, ideal to use as a mid layer when you’re out and about or to wrap up warm at home on chilly days. I often wear layers walking so having this as a mid layer is ideal as it wicks away sweat too!
Gloves are a must in the cold weather and when walking but you need gloves that are both lightweight for freedom of movement but also will allow your hands to breath and not become too hot and sweaty. These North Face Womens Etip Glove are ideal. They also allow you to use your phone or tablet without having to take them off! With silicone grips to keep your device safe in your palm, these gloves are perfect for commuters or hikers who can’t be without their phone this winter.
Just because it is snowing or icy out there doesn’t mean you have to stop going for your walk. That is why I choose these cosy snow boots, The North Face Womens ThermoBall Lace II Snow Boot. They are lightweight, have grippy boot supports and they cradle your foot with its Ortholite footbed. They just seem so cosy! They also look very stylish too. Also the IcePick® rubber lugs mean you can walk on ice with them too! No excuse not to go walking!
Again you don’t have to compromise on wearing dark and bland clothes when out walking. I just love the colour of this Womens Moonlight Down Jacket from The North Face. It is another warm one and look oh so cosy. I really don’t like to have to stick to dark colours during the winter so this colour is just amazing. It also has internal cuffs and a snap-away powder skirt, this jacket keeps out the snow but this would be equally as good at keeping out the rain too. It also features a goggle pocket, goggle wipe, and media pocket, so you have everything you need when you head out walking.
So there you have it, my wish list from Simply Hike. What do you think? Have you another other North Face favourites I should be considering? I’d love to hear about them.
