5 Quick Tips on Improving your home on a budget
Buying a home is so expensive these days which is why many of us are deciding to renovate instead or buy an old house and fix it up over time. I wanted to share with you some tips that can help you bring your home back to life with a few simple changes. As you all know I love vintage and I like to mix the old with the new. So hopefully you will find some of my tips helpful in bringing your home back to life without spending a fortune!
Upgrade your flooring
Is your carpet looking a bit tired? Do you have the old laminate flooring that is starting to peel away? Yes I know about that one as it has happened to me! You can easily upgrade your flooring by changing to something like Engineered Wood Flooring. Engineered wood flooring is quality wood flooring which is the most popular of all the real wood flooring options, it is long-lasting, moisture resistant, and with the quality finish and design of solid wood flooring at a fraction of the cost! And you can order wood flooring samples too, trying out before you buy to ensure you get the right colour choice is a must!
Paint the House
A quick and easy way to add value to your home is to redecorate. A home that looks fresh and inviting is more appealing to live in. There are so many bargains to be had in DIY stores now and the array of paint on offer is fantastic. While you are painting, make sure it includes the outside too and add some greenery like plants to add a splash of colour and fragrance to the entrance to your home. I just love buying plants no matter what time of year they always cheer my front door up! Or even opt for a fake wreath, wreaths are no longer just for Christmas! You could also opt for making a feature with wall murals. The choices are endless.
Upcycle your furniture
If there is one thing in your home that can often cost a lot, it’s new furniture. I have to admit that I love going round charity shops, auctions, Ebay and Gumtree looking for older pieces of furniture. My reason is quite simple, the older pieces of furniture are of a higher standard of quality that flat pack. They were built to last. So many of these pieces are being sold that you could buy a unique high quality French dresser for next to nothing.
Even if you find a piece that hasn’t been loved, you can show it some tenderness and care yourself by getting a French polisher to restore it to its full glory. I am passionate about saving old pieces from landfill so I would encourage you to seek these out and save them and the planet!
Change your accessories
It can be expensive changing the total scheme of a room so why not opt for changing your accessories instead. Buying new cushion covers, a new rug, a new lamp shade can make all the difference to a room and change it from summer to autumn. Don’t you just love all those autumnal colours?
These are just a few of my ideas. What other ideas do you have for bringing your home back to life? I’d love to hear them.
