Review: 8K Flexwarm Heated Gilet. The only option for staying warm working outside!
My husband works in our shed (or studio if we want to impress!) and winter can be a harsh time to be out there. We were offered the chance to review the 8K Flexwarm ultra-lightweight heated gilet.
What is it?
The 8k Heated Gilet for men is a gilet with heating zones. It has a two-way zipper which means you can adjust it easily to your needs. There is a light weight battery which is located within a power pocket and USB connector.
Top features include:
- Ultralight gilet in true black with Flexwarm® heating technology
- 3 unique heating zones to offer you complete control of your ideal body temperature via the Powered by Flexwarm app
- Durable and washable
- Integral 7500mAH battery housed in a zippable pocked with a USB connector
- Internal pockets
- Drawstring cord at the bottom hem to adjust fit
- Flexwarm® patented technology offers unbeatable warmth and protection by evenly distributing heat, unlike traditional carbon fiber heating methods which contain thick, sparse wires – this means no cold spots and less warm up time.
On first impression I was so impressed with the quality of the gilet. To be honest I wasn’t sure how the gilet would be heated but it is very simple indeed. All the instructions come on the label and were very straightforward to follow.
How does it work?
Flexwarm says “The Flexwarm® technology is unlike any heating technology on earth. Because it is so thin it can be printed and then layered onto fabric, which enables the 8K jackets to be ultra-lightweight, durable and washable (without the need for adding additional heavy and bulky insulation material). Flexwarm® patented technology offers unbeatable warmth and protection by evenly distributing heat, unlike traditional carbon fiber heating methods which contain thick, sparse wires – this means no cold spots and less warm up time. This allows the 3 unique heating zones to offer you complete control of your ideal body temperature via the Powered by Flexwarm app – so you can face the elements all year round.
The first step was to charge the compact USB battery pack which came with the gilet. I plugged it in to the internal cable in the gilet, downloaded the app, the instructions are easy to follow so you shouldn’t have any issues.
How did it perform
I tried it and it certainly is like getting a great big hug. The weather here in Northern Ireland has dropped over the past few days so trying this was certainly a success.
With rain and lower temperatures of late I decided to head out in to the garden to pull up some weeds! I have to say that the gilet is so light and you can move easily in it. I choose the gilet as a gift but I really do need one myself as it is less restricting than a jacket. The heat was indeed distributed evenly and I felt it was just enough to keep me warm while out gardening. It was also easy to control the temperature with the buttons which are located on the outside of the gilet.
I have to say it is a very practical product that will certainly keep you warm no matter what you are up to.
I have to admit to being very skeptical about the thought of reviewing a gilet that heated you up. I had never thought of how on earth it would be done but I was so pleasantly surprise. It is such a fantastic product. It is so light weight, quality, durable and above all it keeps you warm – what’s not to like about that?
Setting up and controlling is so easy and straightforward. It is the ideal product for people of any age, from young to old. I would highly recommend the gilet for those who have to work outside as it keeps the chill away.
While I tired the men’s version – as it’s a gift for my husband. I am going to treat myself to one too. It’s a fantastic product. You can get yours from Flexwarm here.
