STEP 1. SET UP A BUSINESS ACCOUNT

Having a business Pinterest account is a must if you have a business or a blog.  It’s an easy thing to do on Pinterest and a must as it also helps get your blog name out there.  There are other benefits too such as Pinterest Analytics.  These are a great way to see how your boards are performing.  You can set up your business account at https://business.pinterest.com.

STEP 2: OPTIMISE YOUR PINTEREST SEO PROFILE

how to optimize your pinterest profile

It’s important to build a profile that will attract people to your pins and ultimately to your blog.  This will also help with your Pinterest SEO. Start off with a profile picture.  This can be your blog logo or it can be a picture of you.  Make sure it is clear.  Secondly, choose your keywords carefully to make sure people know just by glancing what you are about.  So for mine, I am clear that I am a lifestyle blogger with an interest in Blogging Tips, Interiors, Parenting and Making Money.

STEP 3: BUILD YOUR BOARDS

how to set up Pinterest boards

You now need to start building your boards.  It’s important to keep your readers in mind as well as your Pinterest SEO and to ensure your boards reflect your blog.  For example, I set up my first board as the one that will have all of my blog posts.  I then proceeded to set up further boards to reflect the topics I blog about.  Not only do I place my blog posts in the E L Feelgood’s Blog Posts but if they are relevant to other boards I also insert them in there too.  I also fill them up with other people’s content too.

It’s important to join some group boards too in your niche.

STEP 4: DESIGN THE PERFECT PIN

Tips and tricks to help you rock social media as a blogger. Get on top of those social media tasks with daily, weekly and monthly tasks.

Pins are so visually important on Pinterest not just for increasing page views but to get you on feeds and help with your Pinterest SEO.  I use a free version of CANVA as they have several templates but if you want to design your own remember to choose your background picture carefully, add text overly that can easily be read, add your website to the pin and make sure it is a vertical pin!  Oh and make sure when saving it you use relevant keywords too!

STEP 5:  PIN & SCHEDULE USING A MIXTURE OF AUTOMATION & MANUAL PINNING

For the automation of pinning I highly recommend Tailwind.  In this post I explain exactly how Tailwind has helped me skyrocket my Pinterest and how to use it.  You can also sign up for a free trail too!

Another step I have been taking recently has been manual pinning.  Again it has helped me raise my game on Pinterest.  I highly recommend Carly’s book Pinteresting Strategies.  I am beginning to see even more growth on Pinterest.  It is now my 3rd biggest referrer to my blog.  I am hoping it will be my first in a few months time of using the Strategies in this book!

I hope the above steps help you rock your Pinterest and give you the satisfaction I have got from spending more time on Pinterest and getting results.

HOW TAILWIND HAS HELPED ME SKYROCKET MY PINTEREST

This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link.

Ah Pinterest, it has been a mystery to me for so long that I decided I had to make an effort.  I set up my Pinterest account a while back and since then I was really just throwing pictures at it and hoping for the best.  Not much of a strategy I know.

I made the decision to do something about it after reading inspiring blog posts on how many bloggers get the majority of their traffic from it.  Most of my traffic comes from Twitter.  I really needed to tap in to the magic of Pinterest.

What is Tailwind & what difference has it made?

My first task was finding out about Tailwind.

I have to say I have been using Tailwind for several weeks and I am astonished.  It has been working away in the background pinning and repinning my posts, helping me achieve new followers and repins from new visitors and subscribers.

I kept putting off Tailwind for so long thinking it was just too complicated for me and having so much other things to do.  How wrong I was not signing up to Tailwind sooner.

So just under a month ago I decided that I needed to get Tailwind and start making the most of Pinterest.  I started with schedeling my pins up to  weeks in advance then adding new pins as I upload new posts.

Was it worth it?

Most certainly YES!  Below is a snapshot of my account before and after Tailwind.  You can see before Tailwind my Pinterest was stagnant.  I was absolutely stuck for such a long time.  However after signing up for Tailwind you can see the increase.

What’s so cool about Tailwind?

Tailwind is fantastic and there are a number of reasons for that.  Firstly, Tailwind is approved by Pinterest!  So you don’t have to worry about any compatability issues or Pinterest banning the use of it.  You can test Tailwind for free for the first 100 pins.  It’s then $9.99 per month which is very cost effective.  Finally, Tailwind is so easy and intuitive to use.

Why you won’t be able to live without Tailwind

Firstly the Analytics.  Do you love to know the numbers associated with your pins, repins, impressions and blog traffic?  Then Tailwind is for you.

Do you want to know the best times to schedule your pins?  Tailwind has you covered.  They suggest the best times to pin based on the performance of your Pinterest account.

Want to reach even more people?  Then Tailwind Tribes will sort you out.  Tribes are the new feature on Tailwind.  It’s a place where you can share your pins to even more people and those people will then repin.

Free Trial anyone?

Did I mention you get a free trial to see how Tailwind can make a difference to your Pinterest? Yep, your first 100 pins are totally free. Even this trail will show you how it can impact positively on your stats as it has mine.

What have you got to lose by signing up to the free trial?  You can get one right here.

My Secret Weapon – Batch Scheduling

Scheduling Pinterest is a pleasure now and can be done once per week so I can save time and get on with the other tasks of blogging.  Remember though consistency is key so set aside some time each week to fill your scheduling queue.  Remember you can pin to several boards at once so make sure you get the best use of Tailwind.

So, what are you waiting for?

Using Tailwind is wonderful.  It has increased my traffic even in just a few weeks plus it is so easy to use.  I am now able to turn my attention to other areas of my blog that also need more attention.

Indeed at last I can say that I am truly on my way to mastering Pinterest all due to Tailwind.

Are you a Tailwind user? Let me know! And don’t forget to grab your free trial if you haven’t yet experienced the Tailwind awesomeness.
