You’re all about fashion and looking your best, which is great because then you feel your best too and walk with confidence. But if you’re not embracing vegan style, then you’re missing out on a critical movement.

It’s Part of Living Green at Home

You might already be recycling plastic bottles – or better yet, drinking from reusable ones – and cleaning the kitchen with natural products. But there’s more that you could be doing within an eco-friendly home.

Specifically, your wardrobe could be vegan if it isn’t already. In addition to choosing clothing that does not exploit animals, also consider making the same responsible decisions for accessories, such as Vegan Backpacks.

What are Vegan Threads?

Your clothing is vegan if it is made without any animal products. If you’re not sure yet what that means then here’s a handy list of what to avoid for a vegan-friendly closet:

  • Fur
  • Silk
  • Leather
  • Mohair
  • Snakeskin
  • Wool
  • Shell
  • Bone
  • Feathers

While this list isn’t exhaustive, it’s a valuable starting point for weeding through your garments to decide what to give away rather than keep. The main thing here is supporting animal rights rather than the opposite through what you wear..

But please don’t go throwing into the trash any shirts, skirts, and other pieces that have one or more of the animal products written on the label. Instead of contributing to the growing problem of fashion waste, donate the items to a shelter or other non-profit organization to help others.

Also, read labels for clothes before buying them in the future to ensure they come from cruelty-free sources. That’s true for your wardrobe as well as your partner’s and kids.

Why Vegan Fashion Matters

Many stars are stepping out in support of vegan clothing, including Christy Turlington and Joaquin Phoenix. Along with joining these Hollywood A-listers, you are doing something far more important than being part of a celebrity trend.

What’s that, you ask? It’s about being considerate of animals. Just like people, animals have the right to freedom.

So, what you wear matters for more than just its beautiful pattern or color combinations. When it comes to animal abuse and banning certain fabrics from your green home design, it’s about what’s kind to animals and for the planet’s future too.

What Else to Consider about Vegan Clothing and Accessories

Veganism doesn’t automatically mean that the dress, lipstick, or shoes are automatically eco-friendly. Instead, it’s essential to understand the production processes that happen before the item gets to a clothing rack in a physical store or an online shop.

For example, an item might be vegan but have toxic materials in it. Its creation might also be the result of a lot of water – did you know that producing a cotton t-shirt requires about 2,700 liters of water?

While there’s a lot to know about vegan fashion, and it’s a controversial topic, you can do your part by researching companies and checking labels before purchasing fashionable wears. It’s for the future of fashion and the planet.
